Pixel art gallery by Skeddles
Crisp Mountain Air
By far the largest piece I've ever created. I made this piece for the Lospec Gallery Kickstarter, to demo the gallery and gave prints as backer perks. It took me months to finish and was quite a challenge. The goal was to make something with a lot of depth and distance. I learned a lot while making it, and it remains my most popular piece

Krimsoria
An ambitious piece I made to practice composition. I wanted to do something a little different than usual, so I added a building and tried to avoid using green. I really like the way the colors and shapes came out. The foreground rocks were a big challenge, but I had fun with them, it was a good practice in form.

Peaceful Home
This was intended to be a quick demonstration of perspective, but turned into a full piece. I started with more muted colors but kept tweaking them to be more saturated and blue, and really liked the result. I wish I lived here.

Serene Hill
This piece was an expiriment in using softer colors -- the darkest color is actually a middle gray. It was also good texture and color practice for me. This was created at the resolution of the Game Boy Advance.

Naught But Wood
This was created in a single day for the Lospec Dailies theme of "wood", with the M-GB palette by Retronika. I intended to shrink down my sketch before detailing, but decided to keep it large so i could add lots of texture. I wanted to expiriement with a tree that didn't have any leaves for once.

Distant Lands
I made this as a banner for my personal facebook page (facebook was a website young people used to use to keep in touch with their friends). This was my largest piece of the time, and took a lot of work. I was especially happy with the tree. It still remains a well known piece all these years later. This piece won 7th place on Pixel Joints January 2013 monthly top list -- my first time ever placing in a top list.

Little Tower
A small tower and tree tileset expiriment that I turned into a scene for display.

Axolotica
A large piece I wanted to use to practice color theory and bounce lighting. I also never looked at horses so much before. Man they're weird.

Mutant Monotony
Created for a PixelJoint competition of the same name, in which i won first place. This was originally created as an animation, mimicking a scene from Spongebob. It represents the ugly, disappointing monotony of real life.

Fakemon
Original monster designs in the style of Pokemon sprites, specifically those of Pokemon Emerald.
Rhino
A simple scene based on the grasslands of Africa. Intended as the habitat for Rhinoceros, but hmm where did they go? Hope we didn't kill em all.

Rhacos Rider
A prehistoric fantasy piece of an ancient human towing his Phorusrhacos, a real extinct flightless predatory bird. I love extinct animals, especially the non-dinosaurs who don't get as much attention.

Beast Tamer
This started as a digital painting piece, but I couldn't resist turning it in to pixel art, where I'm more comfortable refining the details.

River
Created for the Lospec collab Waterscape, for water focused landscapes. This was also a study of the style of the pixel artist Cure, who is a master of using clusters.
Lozpekamon
A series of monsters created for a Discord chatroom based monster collecting games, where players have to be the first one to react to a monster in order to catch it.

Treecat
An overly ambitious piece I made to practice colors. Had fun with the tree at least.

Monstermon Tiles
This was an attempt to make a tileset that more closely resembled some of my landscape piece styles, such as Distant Lands. I use a Pokemon style map layout for the tilemap.

Skillowatt
A scene I made for the background of music videos for my chiptune music project, Skillowatt.

Mythical Monsters
A series of monsters, creatures and gods from various ancient mythologies from around the world. I've always had an interest in mythology and monsters, and wanted to try to design my own versions of them as characters. It was a fun excuse to learn more about different creatures and cultures. These sprites have been featured in a few games.
Alabastria
Just a typical fantasy piece with a hard split between foreground and background.

Retro Portraits
A series of 8-bit style portraits of various characters and avatars from my friends, collabs or Art Fight.

Axolingo
A fun creature mix made for a Lospec Dailies challenge. Axolotl mixed with a Flamingo, intended to be slightly cursed.

Berkshire Sunset
A simple sunset treeline. It was a view from my window when I used to live in the Berkshires.
Magical Gnome Day
A fun fantasy piece using a restrictive triangular tileset which I tried to push to it's limit. It's fun to find new things you can depict with triangles that wouldn't normally work in pixel art.

Prince of Dajeron
A much larger character piece than I typically do. I used a process where the form and shading was done at a higher resolution and shrunk down before pixelling.

Capybara
I saw a gif of a duck sitting on top of a capybara and just had to create a fantasy piece where a duck knight rode a capybara steed.

Sea Monster
Playing around with a new flat style. I always thought sea serpents were cool. Turns out I was right.

Clouds
This was just a silly piece for Lospec dailies. The text is just insposlop, please don't listen to me I am not successful.
Treeangle
This was an expiriment using only 3x3 triangular tiles. The process was similar to pixel art, it just allowed for a smoother pass at the end with diagonals, though I ended up using them for texture a lot which turned out cool. I used the Toasted40 palette by the artist Toast, which is beautiful.

Beast Daily
A Lospec Daily entry for the theme of "Beast".

Cold
A Lospec Daily entry for the theme of "Cold", using the Palette "System Mini 16" by Space Sandwich.

Cliffs
Just a quick expiriement with some layered cliffs.

Lighthouse
Another Lospec Daily entry, for the theme of "Lighthouse". The palette was quite a challenge but ended up giving an interesting result.

Cosmic Pizza
Legend has it that Pizzak surfs through the cosmos searching for the universes most primo slice of 'za.
Scaredy Cats
Just a few simple pieces of silly cats, inspired by the style of the pixel artist Noion..

Branch
Another triangle-tile test, this time attempting to use color notes of other subtle hues.
Squarescapes
A series of small 64×64 scenes, as a challenge to see how much detail can fit in a small resolution.

Mushroom Forest
I just wanted to make a mushroom house, and the rest just happened.

Owls of Ga'Hoole
A series of sprite of various characters from the childrens book series, Guardians of Ga'Hoole by Kathryn Lasky, which I loved as a kid.
Quiet River
A small piece I made in 40 minutes to test my pixel placing speed.

Ugly Tree
This was for a PixelJoint contest where you had to use the "Ugliest Color Ever" in your piece, which was the light brown.

Silver City
A small piece depicting a shiny clean and bright city. This is a fantasy piece and I do not condone or reccomend living in cities. They smell bad.
Capumon
A collection of monsters for a cancelled monster collecting game.

Bright River
A small landscape I made while testing a timelapse function in Aseprite.

Heroes Guild: Help Wanted
Enemy sprites for the week-long game jam LOWRESJAM, as part of the Lospec team.
